I have bought a Terrafirma detachable tow hitch/tank guard for my D1 and my garage man ended up most confused. It IS deffo the right one, but it needs drilling through for attaching to the forward towbar stay attachment points, and Terrafirma themselves advised that the chassis be drilled and sleeved for the foremost bolts to pass through ahead and above the tank

Impressed not am I.

From a search of the threads, 'turbominij' has fitted one of these recently - perhaps others have. I'd welcome comments on this, but for nearly £400 I would not expect a customer to need to do anything except bolt the thing on.

Actually, given the <cough>precision engineering<cough> that is a Landy chassis, I can appreciate the reasoning behind letting the customer drill his own holes in the right place - but the lack of any part number on it (it's a TF924, that for the 110 is a TF923), plus the lack of any guide notes at all shows a lack of thought IMHO.

Oh, and Terrafirma refuse to talk directly to an end user, so I've had to spend a lot of time on the phone to Tim Fry, who supplied it, acted as a go-between, and who have been stars.

Discool - yes, and no. The problem, as I have discovered, is that Terrafirma in their infinite wisdom use the same publicity shot (of the 923) for both the 923 and the 924. They sent me a 924, but as per my original post, it's not an easy fix on.

PTK - I wish I'd seen that before I bought the Terrafirma one. Half the price......

Drilling out the sideplates to suit the chassis is not a problem - but as can be seen in the photo I took whilst it was on the ramp, there is a l-o-t of unsupported metal ahead of the tubed chassis towbar mounts, and I'm worried that, being unsupported, it might bend upwards and worry the tank. The other photo shows that there is not a lot of air between the plate and the tank at the front.
