Hi guys

I have cocked up good style as in a while ago now i bought a Terrafirma + 2" lift kit ( TF204 ) which is too stiff for what i want it for ie off roading, towing a small trailer, fishing trip's, and an everyday car, so i am thinking of going to Britpart yellow springs but keeping the Terrafirma shock's and selling the Terrafirma springs.

the springs that used to be fitted was Britpart standard springs but well worn out and thinking i was doing the right thing opted for the Terrafirma kit.

how do peeps find the Britpart yellow spring fitted to a 90 covering all aspect's :)

Why not try standard springs. They were designed to give a good all round performance, work reasonably for all you requirements, and compensated for the different corners of the vehicle.
 
i'm now about to take off the britpart 2" lift kit and fit a set of new take off shocks and springs that i bought from urban truck as i'm fed up with the awful ride
 
I used terra-firma + 2" light duty springs and they are perfect. Cant remember the part number but they do light medium and heavy duty. I got them from Maverick.
 
Just looked up part no TF207 around £248 for springs & shocks.

Yeah same price as my TF204's, don't get me wrong they are a great spring and on the road they are stiff but cumfy but off road the wheels come off the ground before the spring expands, i also have rear Terrafirma relocation cones fitted but never get used with these springs.

i suppose i should have gone for the TF202's which are suppose to be the same spec as the BP yellow springs but are £100 dearer than the BP ones :eek:
 
I have medium duty Britpart springs and they are pretty good off road and on, stiff enough on road to handle well and no probs articulating off road.

I researched it a lot before going for Britpart as I assume all parts from them are crap but the springs get good reviews, I'm happy with them.

Yeah i must admit looking at off road / green laning vids on youtube most seem to use the BP ones :)
 
The 110 I picked up on friday has been fitted with +2" britpart heavy load springs. Jesus H christ its the most uncomfortable landy I have ever been in. It doesnt compress - AT ALL

Ive a set of +2" light load springs (220lb/inch from memory?) whilst the heavy uns are more like 400lb/inch. I had them on my csw but the got swamped by all the extra gear we had on the roof and the back.

The light loads are about 17mm in diameter, heavys about 21?

With a longer shock, stock springs will dislocate (rear mostly) under flex. So you'll either need to retain them (which limits the travel and whole point of longer shocks), or run dislocation cones. Longer springs would still be better however.

That's probably because they are cheap, not because they are good.

The obvious solution here is to run the +2" Terrafirma springs of the correct spring weight for your application.

In fairness, any spring make of the correct rate and length will work. But there is often a quality difference.
 
Cheer's guys for all the advice think i will bite the bullet again and buy the Terrafirma TF201 kit there softest kit and sell my old kit on ;):D

if i had a 90 i'd probably try rrc police springs. cheap as chips and could fit the bill.

you can't carry as much in the back mind and check towing weight

I have the TF202 kit and it's been good for me so far in the disco - loaded up with 220L of oil in the boot on the weekend and it rode very well at about 15% lower than the unloaded ride height.
When it's really loaded up with a boot full (180L of oil), full family in and about 150kg of stuff on the roof rack, it rides very well without too much roll and no bottoming out etc.

Off road it's good, but then I don't do anything really extreme, just rough stuff on the farms.

The powder coating on the kit isn't up to much though - the springs and shocks were installed in November 2014 and they've got a few patches of rust already. :(

Yeah tbh i don't really carry much in weight only when doing fishing trips with 5 of us in the 90 and gear, my trailer is only a small light load trailer so i am more after articulation than load bearing so hopefully the TF201 kit should sort it now :)

Son andy has managed to put a vid up on youtube silverdale 4x4 from his phone ( no sound though ) to give you a bit of an idea what i am on about with the springs :)
