I have had my belt off a couple of times this weekend(repairing snapped exhaust studs)-even with the tensioner at full welly, the belt will only just inch off a bit at a time on the smooth pulley-keep at it,it will come off-get someone else to hold the tensioner with a breaker bar.-getting it back on is even more fun
15mm socket on a knuckle bar, apply to the bolt head in the pulley, not the mounting bolt head. Turn clockwise (V8, TD5 is the same) against spring pressure to take the tension off the belt.
