Happened half way round a sharp bend yes I did **** my pants pulled up then they came on again and was fine for the rest of the journey (unlike my pants) this is first time it's done this does this sound like the stalk beginning to fail ? Or any other common issues I should look at.

If both went off simultaneously then likely to be the multi function switch, if only one went off I would check the connection to that bulb,

Lucky you still had side lights and main high beam then.

Both headlamp low (dipped) beams from the lighting switch are on a blue-red wire from the switch to the fusebox, at the fusebox it splits to feed fuse 10 and 11 therefore independent circuits.
So for both beams to extinguish together suggest was due possibly to a loose connection at lighting switch on the blue-red wire.

Thanks for the info can't find anything wrong so I think I'll get a new stalk/switch as they are prone to failing will keep old one as a emergency spare.
