the engine in my 1993 rangie is from a discovery and Im not sure but think the sender is different electrically as well as mechanically (different thread size)
it seems to read cold when the engine feels very warm.
I use type k's and pt100's at work but not with a 12v basic display module - a quick way to monitor things like this is fit a section of stainless tube with a sensor strapped to the side of it.
