Right.
Tried to adjust the fib.
We.managed to get it by adjustung it down to about 67.
No more space to move it any further as it was done beforehand due seen the markings.

Still having hot start issues , but it is running on higher revs and more smooth, no indication of running issues like before ( similar to sparkplug hick ups, sorry , best to describe ).

But, it still had twice hotstart issues, where it taken again a while to start finally.

There is no more space to move the fib any more.
So, is there any other way to solve the problem without getting a new timing chain and let a garage change it?

I really have no intention to spend another 500 ( minimum estimated ) plus buying another car for a week as this is the estimated time for it being off the road.

Any other ideas are very appreciated.
Thank you
What was the engine temperature with the modulation 67%? It almost sounds like the chain has jumped a tooth, certainly there should plenty of spare movement to get the modulation down to 50% @ 95C.
With the modulation at 67% hot start is not going to be much improved.
If I were you, I'd be looking at doing the chains and sprockets, no point in fitting a new chain with worn sprockets.

Temp was 90
Idle gone to acquired revs.
But 300 miles later it gone to hot start problems again.

We done it in a closed garage to ensure engine heats up
But there is no more room to move the fib any closer to the engine.maybe 2 mm, if at all.

To check chain and sprockets- that's an engine out job ? Just thinkg of no available space.

No,chains guides, tensioners and sprockets can be done without removing the engine.

Thats a bonus. lol.
O spoke to my mechanic, after x mas qe giving it another go as he said there is apparently another 5 degree he can move the fib.

It was done in the past, as there are markings on it. So we will see.
We also replacing the temp to becm switch in case it's a simple fault with that. I think I seen someone gave me the part number for it. So have to see who has them listed.
My mechanic can check if wires are OK or not with some kind of test thing.

Since we done it last, idle revs are spot on, and running a lot smoother.

Is just after a long trip and full temperature, it start mucking about.
I know, because it gets to a certain temp or running time the gearbox dosnt like to switch by usual 2800 and the engine need to go up to about 3500 for switching gears.

That's when it has the hot start problems.
And checking faults, no faults driving it around on short distances., until this is happen ( only when the car is in use for a long time, or longer distance ) and is always going back to high temp and modulation .

Worst case I ask my mechanic if it's worth to pay for the check suggested.
