Guys my temp gauge wasn't working so I changed the sender. Hey presto up went the gauge and it continued!! its a 2.25 diesel in a lightweight. I can only think that the sender is for the petrol unless they are both the same:confused:

you sure sender is a good one? a dead short to ground will cause gauge to flatline.

have you got a multimeter? measure resistance if sender and report back

Hi joe the resistance cold with the engine running was 0.47 and after running for about 10mins it went down to 0.04-0.03. The readings I took were with the multimeter set on 2K. The sender is band new though!! Do they come faulty?? It seems to be a common problem.

That aside where a bouts in norfolk are you?? I'm over near downham market

Did it come in a blue Britpart box ?

I'm over in west winch :)
what was the part number? it sounds like it's changing range with change in temp..

The part number on the box is 52770. I've had a look on paddocks there one is part number 560794!!! Got it from AT Johnson's in downham £14.70!!!!! I think I might be taking it back to be honest

We'll just had a look and the sender is for a triumph rather than a Landy. Not very happy with Johnson's. They should do a change over shouldn't they??

They just put the reg in and said that's the one! Had a look online and it's not. Well I suppose I'll take it back when I'm off next. Hope I can find the old one:eek:

You need a sender with a grey insulated on top not black or white, try one for an early 90 I had the same problem on my 1983 series 3
