OK - So - My P38 has been suffering from battery drain following British Gas installing hundreds of Smart Meters in our area :-( - I did some searches on here and discovered that if I cut the purple wire to the RF receiver I would have a temporary fix until Island 4x4 had fresh stocks of Gen 2 RF receivers in stock.

So, I cut the wire and then the car wouldn't start , Put the key in and everything on the dash lights up, but the engine wont crank.
Popped down to Rogers to see advice from them, and they advised reconnecting the wire, and taking it down for resynching.
Got the car down to Rogers, they then couldn't get their AutoLogic to talk to the car, they could get in to the EAS, but not the BECM. They took a closer look and said that the fusebox had blown and advised that I get another one, Saying that they thought it would solve all of my problems.

New fusebox arrives, and is plugged in. Turn the key and still the same old problem, Then Island 4x4 call to say that they have the new RF's in stock so I order one of those. That arrived last week and has been fitted today, but still in the same position, except that upon turning the key I'm now told that I have an airbag and an ABS fault....

Any ideas please? What do I do next??.....Really frustrated as it's got a full tank of petrol, and of gas, but I cant drive it!!

All advice gratefully received.....

Whomsoever told you to cut the purple wire is a prat, that is the RF receiver power supply. Disconnect the Blue Aerial wire only. The car has possibly lost sync and will need diagnostics to re sync the engine ECU to the BECM.

Where did you find that? says everywhere to disconnect aerial (Blue cable)

RF still says out of stock @ Island, how much was it btw?

The ABS &SRS faults are likely to be low battery. Send the bill to British Gas and report the interference to the authorities.

I'm sorely bloody tempted Keith :( It's been a royal pain in the ass :frown:
P.S. New battery fitted too as the battery drain problems killed the other one :(

I'm not sure where I found it - But I wish I hadn't now :(
Think the RF receiver was about £150, but now sure as OH paid for it.

You should report it, it's an offence to install equipment that cause RF interference.

re-read your post, fresh stock of gen 2 receivers in stock, hope you mean gen 3 with a clear green dot, any shade of blue and it's gen 1 or 2, need opened to be sure
latest prices I saw was near £300:eek:

searched this forum and cannot find anyone suggesting to cut purple wire, or any other wire, just disconnect blue antenna cable

this is the right one, unless new batch looks different

That's not quite true.

It is. But... virtually all CE marked equipment has a disclaimer on it saying that it has to accept interference from other sources. As a radio ham, I've tried to fight interference for years coming from devices at 432MHz (right at the low end of the 70cms band) and those stupid home broadband adapters that run over the mains, but we have to accept it. In a court case, British Gas would simply say that it was due to poor design of the receiver circuit. And in this case, they would be right!! :)

For CE approval, all my stuff had to be tested for stray RF emissions.

You'll get told off by the authorities for touching wood while on the internet....:D:D:D

Careful Saint - you may be in danger of becoming an 'embarrassing Dad'! :D

Congratulations BTW, on your new arrival - I would add a thought - Summer's a lovely name, but I would suggest you give her a second (or third) name she can use as an alternative if she doesn't like Summer.
When our youngest (now 33) was born we couldn't decide what to call her, so for the first couple of weeks she was 'Sunshine'. We seriously thought about registering that (OK, we're a couple of old hippies) but eventually common sense prevailed and we called her Poppy (with Suzanna as a less unusual alternative).

As others have said, your life will change (in more ways than you can imagine) but the joy of daughters is worth the changes . . . :):):)

Yes we had thought of that her middle name is Page. So she can choose, or change via Deedpoll if she wants!!

Whatever she calls herself, i'll still love her with every last breathe and being I have!!!

You don't need Deedpoll to change your name:)
