Are the 200 and 300 engines interchangeable? I.e same wiring etc.

I want to know as ive been offered an r reg disco with a blown engine and want to find out how much I can get a replacement for. If its 97-98 will that mean its a 300. The lass was a bit vague on the phone best i got was that it wasn't a td5!

no.
and the mounts are in different places
various other differences too.

Someone on here is trying to do this install on here at the mo and has concluded it'd have been better to just get another 300 lump.

you could probably pick a complete 300tdi up off ebay that needs loads of work or welding pretty cheap and that way you could hear it running and also take off any other parts you might need.

yep thought of that. But it would mean i'd bought 3 landies in the space of 2months!!

Im informed the engine has "blown up" but this could mean anything really, might be fixable. Would it be cheaper to do a straight swap than rebuild?

Does anyone know when the 300 engine was introduced or could you still get the choice of the 200 or 300?

i think 1994 was the first 300tdi but if you could get hold of a known good engine it would probably be just as quick to swap it

On that year I'm pretty sure it should be a 300TDI as for wether a 200 would fit in its place I don't think it would be easy as some one was asking earlier about adapter plates for them and sound like a lot of hassle stick with whats in get like for like its always a lot easier

I dont like hassle. Sounds like i'll need a 300 then. :)

Anyone got one for sale...yorkshire area.
