well ive just got myself a series one with a blown motor & my disco is coming to the end of structural life & i want to fit my engine & box into my series one.
so can it be done & if so how? also what else will i need? & can i fit the power steering & axles or brakes as discs all round would be great.
cheers rik :)

Get your tape measure out, measure the length of the series engine and box then do the same with the disco and you will have your answer

not sure about the box, but i know the tdi lump will fit in,
also, why put a auto box in a series? i know the tdi goes onto series two and three boxes fine, not sure about series 1 though, what what exactly is wrong with the engine?

the previous owner ran it low on oil & has knocked the mains out because they kept on driving!!

to answer the q's, because my wife has only got an auto liscense & i have a perfectly working disco to donate the parts from & then i can sell all the offroad bits from it & weigh the rest in.
plus i like auto's & series boxes ar'nt the best in the world. :)

engine will be no problem. the garbox will fit but you will have to fit the axils as well and mess about with the mountings and propshafts, what do you want for the old engine? i have a s1 and a few spares are allways handy

if using the lt230 you can get kit to put center diff into rwd and 4wd in difflock saves changing to series t/box or axles

Yes, the vehicle police will want to have a good look at it and re-register it. Get the engine rebuilt or buy a new disco with the proceeds of selling the disco bits and the S1. Won't be long before they fix it so a vehicle has to be historic and completely original or it has to be rebuilt to modern day specs.
