"There is NO WAY to make a diesel "run rich" other than to open the max fuel screw TOO FAR, and cause EXCESS fuelling, but all that does is to make smoke, reduce power and waste fuel. "

Thanks for your help

You may have hit the problem on the head .............
That's just the symptons I have.
Poor MPG,
lack of power = reduced top speed.
Smokes (expecially when cold, it always seems as if it's overchoking

Matter of interest where (approx) is the fuel screw? I vaguely remember the guy pointing somewhere to the offside of the engine that the adjuster was there.

I don't want to mess, just interested.

On the injection pump somewhere.
Depends on which engine and which pump.
However, it will probably be under the turbo boost controller.

You could have that off and CLEAN it. Easy-peasy job.
4 small screws and then just gently clean the thing.
If it happens to be stuck in the BOOST position, then that could be your problem.

Send a photo looking down on your injection pump.

Undid the four flat heads screws and took it off and had a look, it is exactly where he pointed, looked inside and compared it the one on 'Steves site' Mine is bloody perfect, there is no crud or build up or anything, infact it looks brand new inside.
However after looking further on 'Steves site' I see it talks about screwing in the 'smoke screw' I am sure this is the screw the guy I bought the Landy off had adjusted.

I thought now I know what it is, maybe to turn it out have a turn. Do you guys think this is best left alone by me?

P.S I looked further on Steves site and see that he adjusts the turbo boost, bloody glad i am not doing that, that plunger thing isnt the same thats on my landy.

Cheers for the help.

I bought a whole runner 200 tdi recently .. a Disco ..... but the chassis and body are both COMPLETELY gonners.

However, all the mechanicals and leccy stuff works fine, and it starts and runs well.

question is, now I have a 2.5 td in the lightweight, what dio I do with this one?

Was goiing to stick ... the good chassis off YELLA on it, but the body isn't up to it.

Ideas?

how bad is bad charles?? yer gonna get rid of the thing as one??

FYI Poor economy and top speed was sorted by a replacement airfilter and a stretched accelerator cable adjusted.

MPG now about 28-30

Top speed now around 80-85 MPH

Airfilter a tenner, and 5 minutes adjusting the throttle cable.........
