So my 2004 TD5 CSW (electric windows and remote locking) front doors are getting a little crusty and bubbles here and there have started come up on the ally skins so I've been looking at TDCI doors.
my question is, will full manual TDCI door be a straight swap with my TD5? i.e. can i simply unbolt the electric window and central locking stuff and bolt it into the TDCI doors??

also are there any specific areas of a TDCI door that i should look at for rust or damage, similar to the bottoms of earlier doors, or are they pretty good at not rusting?

from what I've read they should be fine, I was just wondering if anyone here has done this before and if they have any tips.

I do have a particular interest in this, but no actual solid knowledge for you..

It would be very odd if LR had changed anything on the inner frame of the door for a car they already knew they wouldn't be building much longer. As you know, the only apparent difference is that the skin is now steel instead of aluminium.

That last little detail means that you no longer have the makings of a battery in each door and corrosion will be much reduced. If you want to improve it while you have the chance I'd suggest cleaning and lots of paint on the insides would be a very good plan. Look for rust traps that you can get to if you fancy drilling a few drain holes. The horizontal stiffeners mounted so that they catch water are a particularly brilliant idea...

The doors were changed in 2005, so 11 years before the end of production.

The internal door plates are different, however they can be adapted to fit the new doors by making a small bracket, if I recall correctly there’s only one or to mounting points which differ. The rest are the same. However if you’re buying complete doors then you should be able to move most of your bits across.

The reason I note the above is that second hand doors cost about the same as a brand new one from Land Rover in a lot of cases now. So a lot of folk buy new, though you do then have to spend another chunk fitting out all the innards.

Door cards are a different shape too, so either modify yours to kind of fit neatly or you’ll need new ones.

i'm looking at two being taken off a vehicle to be broken for spares so hopefully will have good conditioned door cards.
he did mention a 'little surface rust' so when i get the pictures ill see what this looks like. they will need repainting so any surface rust won't be an issue assuming it is only surface rust!
