hi guys dose any one have a link to an online manual for the l322 td6 as one has to take the head off and im not to sure of the timming marks on this engine cheers marshy

Hi guys sorry for the delay in reply butt the laptop went into sudden death mode last night head has to come off due to snapped glow plugs which I got a kit to sort out butt theres two stuborn stems stuck inside that I cant get out

If the glows are needed for starting then it needs checking for injector leakage or tired low side fuel pump/s.The glows are more to help with emissions than cold starting.I never wait for glows on TD4,5 or 6 - they shouldnt be needed for starting.

on any diesel i have driven, on a cold morning, if you dont wait the couple of seconds for the glow plug light to go out, it takes longer to turn over the engine.

i was always told to wait for the glow plug light to go out, especially on the L322 as you have a preheating message to inform you to wait.

some modern diesels wont attempt to turn over without cycling the glowplugs

ye glowplugs have to come out now as the stem is dangling over the piston and just waiting to drop in and smash my piston to bits so it is a must for me worst luck and i have a bmw 530d e60 with allmost an identicle engine as my range rover and if i dont use the glowplugs on a frosty morning she dont like it at all

Any common rail direct injection diesel should start without glowplugs except in extreme cold. I never wait for the glow on the Transit and my old smiley Transit didn't even have glowplugs, nor have the direct injection marine diesels I have worked on:)
