Hi,
I've got another issue with the L322 I recently took over. When I start it up, at least 50% of the time I'm greeted with the Warning Message of "HDC Inactive". Even when I didn't get the message, the HDC wouldn't work. I've just changed the battery, but the problem still persists.

I have a sort of intermittent problem with the gearbox as per my other thread, but everything else works perfectly on the car, but not sure whether the issues could be linked.

All wheel speed sensors are working fine as I've checked what they read whilst driving on a diagnostics machine. What other components can affect the HDC?

Cheers

Mike

You could check the battery voltage with the engine running at 2K rpm, should be 14.7 volts or more.
Also check the earth strap from engine to chassis.

I cant remember if it the hdc that is reset turning the steering from full lock to full lock but worth a try.

I did the steering angle reset after changing the battery, as it did the standard thing of throwing up air suspension, TC and ABS lights, which all cleared straightaway

Just took it out for a drive and it appears to be working now.....

Looks like there’s no light on the dash on these though?

I get the same message if I haven't used mine for 4 or 5 days, on mine it's just low battery voltage and clears after a short run.

Quite common on early cars, the warning just to flash up quickly on startup then disappear immediately.
It doesn't affect anything and the HDC still works....as stated often a slight drop in voltage sets it off.

Mine does it 50% of the time, (I've had it 6 yrs and on its second battery) the battery is fine.....tends to do it more so on first start up of the day and when outside temperatures are low.

I did read a while back something to do with the BCM/BCU or the likes on the earlier cars.

Wouldn't worry about it or dig into it.....
