Hi,

Ive got a problem with my 1999 TD5 90. It starts and runs fine but when I turn off the key it keeps running. To stop it, I either have to press the brake or put the wipers on. I then have to leave it with the wipers switched on when its of otherwise the battery goes flat!

Sometimes, when its dark, i can see the alternator light glowing very dim and when I turn the ignition on it sometimes flickers.

It is getting annoying having to remember to put the wipers on when I get out!

Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Cheers

James

That sounds like a poor earth somewhere, check all the main earth cables (battery -ve to chassis and engine) and make sure they are intact and the terminal and attachment point are clean. There are a lot of smaller earth points dotted around (one on the bulkhead near the brake master cylinder), check they are all in good condition too.
