Also, there are a few videos on youtube regarding bad starting TD5's


A good idea to have a good working battery , did you check the voltage when you were cranking? iirc the TD% does not like less than 10.5 V when cranking.

I'd try tow starting it, my friend and I have battled this issue on his TD5 for years, first it was the injector washers, then he did the pump, fuel regulator blah blah. Almost every time the brute was a pig to start again the first time, each time we got it going on a tow start and then that was it. We were never quite sure why but it was discovered after the battery went flat from trying the sometimes over 40s of cranking.

I wonder if he has got it going yet. Looking at it, he's in the USA. He's probably shot it. Elvis shot his car when it wouldn't start.
