I've been putting off this job for ages as I was told that to replace the front wheel bearings on my '99 TD5, I had to replace the entire hub unit at great cost.
Yesterday, I enquired at my local factors the cost of a front wheel bearing kit and was told somewhere circa £30.00...:)

So, I am seeking your advice... do I tackle replacing the bearings with the kit or do I have to buy an entire hub...?

Cheers,
Mark.

Whoever told you that it required a new hub is an idiot. If you had a jeep cherry then yes you would have to replace the whole hub but not wiith a landy.

The TD5 hub is not re-buildable. You need a complete assembly. Yes it is expensive (~£180/ corner) as they include the ABS sensors

the 300 ES hubs have ABS sensors in and they are rebuildable......is it a totally different unit in the TD5?

Thanks for the input guys. Looking at MartinK's link, they look a straightforward part to fit, is that right, or am I missing something.....?

easy enough to fit, shifting the nut on the end of the drive shaft is another matter..!

check yer CV gaiters are OK, replace them at the same time if not.
