Hi.
Can anyone tell me what size the special thin spanner is because I'm too tight to buy one and reckon I can make one for nothing.
I must have something laying around in my shed that will do the job.
Cheers.

Rumour has it that its a 36mm spanner.
Can anyone confirm this before I spend my hard earned readies or waste any time fabricating one?
Cheers

Bit the bullet and got me hands dirty.

I had some thinish spanners and the definitive answer is:
1998 TD5 viscous fan nut is 36mm. Well it is on my motor.

A sharp tap with a universal adjuster, anti clockwise as you stand in front of the engine, and off it came nice as pie.

Answered me own question. Doh!

I dont see why it needs a special spanner as there is plenty of room to get a normal one in there. Either that or my engine has shrunk.

Hope this is of use to somebody.

Hi, Shifty I was reading a previous post of yours (a while ago now) regarding The Td5 radiator problem. Did you resolve it? I just bought a replacement Radiator and am missing the connector for the pipe at the bottom on the left (as you stand at the front facing the windscreen) Not sure what to do with it!

Yes I just made an adaptor out of 15mm copper fittings and joined the fuel cooler pipes together and connected them to the single radiator outlet.
No problems after 2000 miles.
