Old thread I know but what was the solution? I’ve got the same issue
Yep, I found this one too...read through it and guess what......no further updates by user. So we'll never actually know if it was the engine mounts will we.........pft!
Old thread I know but what was the solution? I’ve got the same issue
The TD5 engine does have a vibration but usually more like @2250 rpm i think. This may just be a 5 cylinder engine being a bit out of balance at this engine speed.I still have this same problem after fitting genuine mounts. Can feel the vibration in park/neutral at 2k rpm. Any ideas chaps?
Should have said, it's an auto.
It's had a new centrifugal.
I don't know if the transfer box mounts can go soft, the look ok but they are nearly 22 years old now.
I'll update if I ever find the cure!
Loose?Check handbrake as well. In my case that was the root cause (i had vib around 2700-3000).
I have changed the spring kit, shoes and cable as well and the problem solved. It was about 2 years ago and since the car is running sweet!Loose?
Drum warped?
Give us a clue!!
No sorry, just the squeaking. This vibration thing is common it seems, but i would guess its a variety of things.Fitted the pulley as had ordered it already, still vibrating but the squeak has gone. So basically a waste of money!
Could the belt really cause a vibration??
When you say feel it in park, does it mean that the handbrake applied? As I remember I also had the vibration in park but when pulled handbrake it changed. I think, even the car is not moving, the handbrake cable can transfer some vibration from the engine to the cabin.I can feel it in park so it eliminates the drivetrain/handbrake drum (thanks though)
