Hi all,
my Ex Utility Td5 has a VDO Pedal Interface box for limiting top speed, speed control and also allows a engine rev remote control which I use to increase engine revs to run the hydraulics and my log splitter.

The Pedal control box intercepts the signals from the throttle pedal which I've now got my head around. What I'm not sure about is that there are a couple of wires coming out the control box and are spliced into wires entering into the small black sealed box.

What is the purpose of this black junction box (image attached)?

I can't find it in the wiring diagrams I have relating to the ECU etc. The ultimate goal is to add in a couple of connectors so that I can completely bypass the Pedal Control Box for the majority of the time (ie revert back to the original wiring) and then only reconnect it when I need to run the hydraulics and the remote. The control box is definitely limiting top speed and looking at the manual its possible to set up the box to limit max throttle in any given gear too.

thanks

Sorry no clue. Likely never know, companies are known to fill things like that with gloop to stop competitors from learning their secrets!

cheers- I actually thought it might be a standard TD5 'part' . It looks like its part of original wiring although the VDO Pedal Interface box has been connected to it.

I'll unwrap some of the wiring and see which , if any, pins it connects to in the ECU plugs.

I have just obtained a couple of the pedal interface boxes with a view to put one on my td5 for throttle idle increase when using hydraulics.
I do not have the wiring diagram or the manual.
You mention you have the manual?
Does it have the wiring diagram contained?
If so could you let me know where to find a copy.
If not could you photograph the cable numbers where they are patched into the original loom please.
Once I get these I can almost certainly help you bypass the box to prevent throttle limiting.
The box is a patch between the throttle and the ecu. It can most probably be bypassed using a couple of multi pole relays.

Hi, yeah I figured out the bypass in the end.I've got hydraulics, which I run a log splitter from occasionally so having the remote engine speed controller is handy. I'll dig out the instructions I've got when I get a min. I set up connectors so I could just bypass the box for normal driving and connect for running remote engine control. Disconnecting the box also removed the speed limiter.

Thanks that will help me.
If you don’t mind tracing the wiring and photographing the numbers on the vdo loom as they patch to the td5 loom.
Have you used relays to bypass or simple plugs and sockets?
