Hi, on a Disco 2 TD5, could anyone tell me what the purpose of the under engine trim is? Apart obviously from regulating the flow of oil to the ground. Has anyone had any problem doing away with it? it is the only vehicle I have ever had so equipped. I don't do any serious off roading.

Technically it is there as a noise reduction device, I believe. It may also possibly reduce drag.
The big one has been missing on mine since I got it and it hasn't come to any harm.

Also keeps water spray, leaves and small dogs, out of the engine bay......

Apparently so...... I took mine off when I had the gearbox out, and never refitted it.
