hi guys,
Iv finally taken the plunge and brought myself a 2004 td5 disco after 6yrs owning a disco 1.
I have a few issues but for now I'm just after some confirmation.
The temperature gauge goes up to normal whilst driving, on idle however it will slowly drop to halfway between cold and normal, am I right to believe I have a dodgy thermostat?
Thanks,
Matt

Maybe, it's worth changing for peace of mind.

If you are changing the thermostat , get yourself a pair of the clip pliers needed, makes life a lot easier.

Oh, and do not forget your EKA code..LOL

Cheers

Might well be a dodgy thermostat but could also be a siezed viscous fan which is running at full pelt all the time.
That could be a valid point if the engine reaches temperature when idleing then cools down when you are traveling, engie revs would be much higher and the fan would move much more air.

It could be air in the system if it wasnt filled and bled as in the book by raising the tank above the bleed hole etc. and as at idle the pump is spinning slower the coolant can't reach the sensor and it takes only the air's temp which is not as hot as the coolant... i'd bleed it well first
