ive had my safari bent in 2 on a branch, it sprung back immmediately with no damage, and it took the weight of the 110 led on its side, some scratches but no real damage, i can't see many others standing up to that sort of punishment

My story is the otherway round. lol.

I drove over the mushroom top of mine accidentally, it was bent and a little squashed but i made it round again with a screwdriver.

I also know someone who drove over there safari top and smashed it.

I suppose its horses for courses really. :D

And the arguement about sand and dust, terrifirma do a sponge filter that goes over the top.
I know this because I have one

A pair of stockings over the top of the snorkel makes a pretty effective filter, just don't use fishnets:D

What ever one you get will be useless unless you properly seal the hole at the lowest point of the intake pipe and the drain in the air box.
I put a basic mushroom top on, and when that started to look a bit crap replaced the pipe with a stainless one and put a southdown top on.

Its just a taste thing - they both do the same job. If you are gay then buy the safari/ plastic one, if you are a true hetro then get a mushroom like the rest of us.

I got mine for free off a mates scrap td 90, in my defense I wouldn't have bought one, but it was for free, so I couldn't really turn it down :D

Thanks everyone think I will go for Mantec got my eye on one at eBay Maybe , still not sure keep changing my mind though

I just had a Mantec one delivered and will be fitting it soon. It appears to be made of polythene and is quite thick so should be robust enough for what I need.
Mushroom tops are more effective in extreme conditions but as I rarely drive through either the camargue or the kalahari, I guess the mushroom top may be considered overkill for Bedfordshire!
I just like the look of the Mantec and that's what matters to me! Also it was only £130 from 'wheelcover1' on eBay and took 2 days to get to me so I'm chuffed. The wading kit is in the post as we speak.
Looks are important (Probably more than functionality) on the roads in the UK and the Mantec looks great (To me). There's a Disco local to me (Broomhills shooting ground) with a snorkel made from domestic drainpipe and it looks fu**ing ****e.

Have a look at my post regarding the Mantec I've just fitted. I'm not saying it's great but it's more info for your reference
