TD5 2001 Fuse F19 10amp for the RH side lights is blowing but only when the engine is started, all lights work when the engine is off. what else from F19 does the ignition switch turn on when the engine starts ? checked all lamp units and trailer socket all appear OK

F19 feeds number plate light, lh rear light unit, lh front side light. Also goes to side lamp warning light on instrument cluster. May be that a poor earth on this cluster is drawing excess current from other circuits on the cluster that are activated when ignition on. Does everything work on the cluster when this fuse is missing?

PS f18 feeds the right hand side front and tail lights only.

When I sit in the cab with the lights switched on all appears to work ok. When I start the engine fuse 19 as it appears on the plastic fuse box cover blows. sometimes not straight away

The Haynes manual 2002 defender wiring diagram I am reading suggests F19 is the left side as you suggest
I remember from years back that the right side is your right when sitting at the wheel am I still correct ?
The right side as I believe is the side thats blowing the fuse The left side and tail lights work OK with F19 removed

The instrument cluster lights and lights on warning lamps work if I replace F19 fuse

With f19 removed, do the other cluster warning lights work ok? Handbrake, abs, ign etc do they come on?

Thanks for reply. I have taken the passenger fuse box off its mounting and checked the wiring colors behind the fuses Red black wire is connected to F18 left hand lights. Red Orange is therefore connected F19 right hand lights I am assuming this has always been wrong from new or someone has changed the connections at the back of the fuse box

I have removed the trailer socket and wiring harness as it was fairly grotty with water ingress evident inside the socket as most circuits meet here it was an obvious choice

I have replaced the fuse F19 and tested all the lights which at pesent are working OK with the engine started

I will overhaul the socket and harness and refit later if the problem is solved

Hi everyone, apologies in advance for the change of topic , I gave up trying to start a new convo ....
My question
I want to run two new feeds from my fuse box on my 2006 td5
Am I correct thinking that the fuse bars where all the fuses are are live on one side and then I can add a new wire on a unused slot and then make its connection with a appropriate fuse?
I'm wanting to connect
1) a ignition live for my new electric windows

2) heated seats with engine sensor
3) daylight running lights all of the fuse box rather than direct to battery

Any advice appreciate
And yes I've just got my lovely Landy so super excited )))
