Fery, would that data be captured when recording the instrument data, containing Turbo pres. (kPa), Ambient pres. (kPa), Air flow (g/s) or are is the fuelling data on another screen ?

Hi Discodevon, I'm not getting any whistling noises from the exhaust manifold. The MAF was changed around 6 years ago for a genuine one, the live data I've captured seems to show that its working, ranging from 60 to around 300. But I maybe wrong

In Inputs fuelling, put SD card in nanocom, save on it, download to PC and convert to excel

If your maf readings only reach around 300 the maf needs changing, whilst booting it it should be in the region of 600.

I have had this exact issue with my 10p TD5 in my Defender. I was reluctant and pretty uncomfortable when taken above 3000rpm.
I had the clutch and DMF changed a year or so ago and since then it has been fine. I did write a post on it a while back but the search function just returns an error.

Probably not what you want to hear, but it was chalk and cheese.

That's really interesting MungoPark, I know the clutch has never been changed, well according to the full history I've got. I do notice clutch judder whilst the engine is cold, so perhaps the DMF is on the way out.
I'm looking at changing my gearbox next year as fifth gear is whining, more so this year than ever, so I planned to change the clutch then. I do an oil change every year, engine, boxes and axles regardless and only use genuine mtf94.

Thanks Mungo, interesting read. Yes its false economy not to change my clutch when I do the gearbox. I'm going get the box from Ashcroft and have a V8 fifth gear installed to help with the motorway runs I do.

Mine wasn’t whistling either but that was it, you should try unplugging your maf anyway just to rule it out

Well, I've got the fuelling file but it won't upload. I've tried zipping the .xlsx file but it won't upload :(

Here's a extract (via snipping tool):

Nothing obviously wrong in the readings, that roughness above 3000rpm is present stationary too or just while moving?... Do you stil have EGR?

Hi Fery, thanks for looking and commenting. No there is no roughness when stationary and only seems to be rough when over 3000rpm in mainly 3rd and 4th gear. I have got a whining noise in 5th gear from the gearbox

Then you can rule out a management issue IMO, might be the DMF or something mechanical which exceeds my knowledge
