Hello. New to this but been reading the site for awhile. I bought a 51 plate 90 TD5 with 61k on it. One owner. Pretty tidy thing. I have noticed a couple things about it.

1. On start up it takes about 5-7 seconds for the throttle to give you full power to say. So if you start it then into first and floor it it takes off really slow then after the couple seconds it takes off. I don't do it when she is cold but does it all the time. Hot or cold.

2. When it's cold you get a kind of howl noise from when you ease your foot of the clutch. Only really does it cold. Clutch is fine. Low buying point and doesn't slip.

Now for the IRB stuff. Has anyone for there tuning kits fitted? I want more power from my 90 as I pull a lot of plant and trailers. I'm not wanting 300bhp etc. just about the 200-210bhp mark. Is IRB the best for it or Re there others out there. I have the alive tuning itg panel filter and EGR blanking plate fitted. That made a good difference.

Also had to change the alternator on it about 2 days after buying it. Not a hard job but did I do it right? I took the radiator etc out to change it. Seemed the best way at the time.

Thanks

Hi TD590

I have 54 plate TD5 90 and I experience the same things you noted in points 1 & 2

1) From what I understand the 6-7 second delay is because the fuel tank is in the rear, and because of the electric fuel pump, it takes the 6-7 seconds to pressurise the fuel line fully - I may be corrected on that tho....

2) I experience that exact noise as you describe but only in cold weather too, I have just ignored it for the past few years and there never has been a problem.

Hope that helps a bit

point one-bollox,

point two- could be spigot bush

the IRB chaps (ian and ada) are very good with TD5's but you'd have more luck getting through to prince charles at buckingham palace than getting IRB to answer a phone or an email.

I live about 2 miles from there place and i go further a field.

For tuning, look at Alivetunning or bell auto services.

I have an alive re-map, tis good. :D

Me too! Went for a torque mapping as I tow heavy trailers.

mine was done when i bought it, it has alive stickers all over it and the service number.

I have compared it to another TD5 and its faster but i have no idea by how much.

I dont use 1st, i get 2FT before i have to change up. I just pull off in 2nd.

1. could be a fooked MAF sensor. If it is, get a proper LandRover replacement, not a cheapy off fleabay as it'll be, well, shyte.

2. mine did that. I ignored it. can't guarantee it's a good idea though

IRB - exactly what BGB says. I've had a remap from them and it was great, but getting hold of them is like pushing air into a heap
