hello i am now to discoverys

i have done a search and not found all the answers i needed

i have just baught a 2002 es auto and i have noticed that it has dropped a small amount of oil on my drive not loads but a bit i have had a look under it and it looks like it is on the left hand side of the steering rack if your looking at the front of it.

it is dripping down from above it the oil is clear and looks like the pas fluid on the pas bottle it also has a picture of a car with arrows pointing in both directions. i am a bit conserned that the pas fluid also works the ace suspension as well so if it runs low will it do damage to the ace as well.

one more question is it a big job to fix can i do it my self i am ok on the spanners or am i better leaving it to the garage as its a bit of a fiddly one and what would a rough cost be

thanks and such a top site

thanks mate i didnt realise it was different

is i always the box that goes or is it sometimes the pipers that split

thanks for the help and reply

It's a land rover - I'm sure it can leak from anywhere ;-) I'm not sure you will be able to tell without pulling the battery tray etc out and having a look.

Assuming it IS the box, the seals go on the power steering box most commonly - from what I've read although you can change the seals it's a big job and usually doesn't solve the problem. I am going to get hold of a recon power steering box when I do mine.
