I know a remap will be better but has anyone used the plug in ones for td5's
I'm looking into getting one and found one for £230
Thanks for reading

cant comment on plug ins, but contact Dynachip, he remaps for £225 and makes a huge difference and has many happy customers on here

In my experience dont go the plug-in route. Its a generic catch all at best and for just a little more you get the real deal with tech backup from most of the genuine companies offering re-map services. JMHO.

This is something I don't really know slot about but would I be right in thinking that the chip can't damage anything if I were to stick to a bigger name, not a cheapo. The main reason why I'm swaying towards the chip is I like the idea of being able to remove if I need to. I'm starting to think that the only way to find out is bite the bullet.
Thanks for the advise so far bit keep it comming

ive fitted quite a few for customers mostly for the option of been able to remove it for sale of vehicle and some for warrenty issues all have been good ,maybe not the most you could get but they have all been happy with what they got ,usualy stick box on top of battery with double sided tape

i did get one yes and put it on yesterday, easy to fit and 6 differant settings for power or whatever. i went for a "king quick" as we can get them cheaper at work.
first impressions at the mo are huge differance in power once the turbo kickes in, it feels alot less reluctant to stall when setting off from a stand.
it doesn't appear to be smoking much since i fitted it. although for a laugh i upped the power to max and it made it not run right at about 2000rpm but after that went kike a rocket.
if you need any more info give me a shout.

ive tried a couple now one was a blue box cant remember name wasnt very good, other was two silver boxs and proper loom not bad but kept sticking on engine warning lamp, in the end went for a remap but still wasnt happy with the amount of smoke it put out under hard power.

I seem to be lucky then as there is no more smoke under acceleration,
Just done 1000 miles with it now and the economy hasn't changed and that was towing a caravan

I am looking at plug-in tuners such as Tunit and Bearmach, but it is hard to find which is best. They are both around £450. Any advice out there?

Is there any way to tell if a vehicle has already been remapped without taking it to a specialist? I just bought a TD5, looks to already have had an EGR mod (exhaust manifold has a blanking plate on), and the whole vehicle feels a lot punchier than I'd expect for a 2.7 ton beast :D

Mine has been remaped at 200bhp its like a rocket but it was eating clutch`s so had to put solid mass heavy duty clutch in its been fine after that but you get a little bit of vib at low speeds . So be ware dont chip or remap at to high setting

re maped mine turbo kicks in at 1600 so can drive through roundabouts in 5 gear take away from standing in 2 gear no probs 600 miles out a tank of feul not sayin how fast it goes to scary
