hi, i have just bought an 04 td5 landmark auto with 40k miles.
i am thinking of chipping it and wonder what experience others have had.
i am most interested in whether the extra torque will make motorway cruising more relaxed.

I have just put a Britpart centre box replacement pipe and twisted performance turbo pipes on my 2000 td5 and it is alot more responsive and runs lower revs at a higher road speed. Sits at 80/90 on the motorway quite comfortably. I'm well happy!!!!

my TD5 is chipped, free flow exhaust, uprated intercooler and pipes, egr bypass, itg filter ect and to say the least it is not in anyway relaxing to drive! it is very quick and will pull 6ton all day long off road, but it is in no way relaxing, it more like a box full of stoats. just dont lift the lid off!!

I'm afraid someone has to point out that what you say here is, well, frankly, not correct.

Nothing you do to the ENGINE, tuning or anything else, can cause it to "run lower revs at a higher road speed".

The gear ratios are fixed. They are unvarying constants established ONLY by the teeth count on the various cogs.

If Slob had caught you for this Howler he'd have had something to say!
