Hi , i have a 1999 disco td5 with 180000 miles on clock.
has always been reliable but just recently has started to have oil in the water coolant, the engine isn't overheating and there is no water in oil sump.
In the last week though the coolant water is disapearing and and around the exhaust manifold at cyl no5 appears wet.

Any ideas to cause???

I would suspect head gasket. is the cooling system holding pressure when engine cold? they can go fron cylinders to water or oil channel, or any combination of. can get a garage to test for combustion products in coolant tank, or just go for it and strip head off, as you can never be 100% sure without looking at it

little pressure when cold but water disappears rapidly.
Have already started to strip it.
Thanks for reply

make sure you flush through both oil and coolant, otherwise any build up of gunk in them can block passageways and cause overheating and further head gasket problems.
