get a good battery, starting on engine oil is harder than on diesel

put a voltmeter on the battery while you crank it and if the voltage drops under 11V then put a new/strong battery cos the starter "eats" the power and the ECU doesnt work on lower voltage(the fact that the starter spins it up doesnt mean there's enough power left for the ECU)

If the battery went flat just by leaving the door open then its fooked.
As already said get a new battery as the ECU is sensitive regarding supply voltages.

a good 110AH battery doesnt have to run flat on open doors(as already said by Shifty)...the courtesy lamps are on for not more than 10 minutes... and if the battery has an internal failure it will drain the other battery too and wont let the voltage to rise. ... you have check the voltage on it while cranking to make sure... or do as you think if you dont believe us

Read post 3 and take action.

then borrow a known good strong battery and try then..... if it will fire up(and i have a strong feeling that it will) u can buy a new one....if not we'll speak then..... nothing is 100% certain with a Land Rover, that's a fact which is 100% certain:D

If you measured only 9v when you cranked, it sounds like the battery is knackered. Why not just take it to ATS and let them do a free test to check it out??

Might be worth having the battery checked :doh:
You asked for urgent help in November!

right, i see your point, ok, but are you certain ? a new battery is 100 quid :(

If you can not afford the battery how do you afford fuel. Sell the damn thing then and take the bus. Battery should last 3 yrs that is less than 3 quid a month:rolleyes:
just give up a pint a month

Bet you drink more than that a month and just **** it away
