Hi, just bought a 2000 discovery2 TD5, been parked up for a while battery died and has a little water ingress issue, and just prior to purchasing wouldnt start, negotiated a discount, took a fooking big gamble, and believed the aa diagnosis which was fuel pump innop.
fuel pump didnt work when ignitiojn was energised and it looked original, so replaced witha known good one, which also doesnt operate when ignition is switched on,
So i put an independent 12v source to pump, and it worked so went throught the bleeding routine, 15sec off 30 on x 6, then left pump connected to 2nd battery, tried key still nothing, squirted some easy start in air intake. its starts briefly first key, but quickly dies 1-2secs, reconnecting pump to main harness and it doenst run, negligable power reading on multimeter .1v-.6v with ign switched on,
changed engine bay fuses, and relay.
have tried fuel reset switch, including thumping it with palm of hand and resetting
q should the engine crank if immobilzed?
wonder if battery disconnect and jump start upset car, or slight dampness has upset it
when its light will look at fuesbox under dash to see if its wet
thanks
