It's a very good tyre, we have 255/65R16's on our D2, just passed 3 years and 47K miles, still got another 8K left in them.
They will ship bare tyres, you don't have to go to them for fitting, we have had a set from them and fitted locally.

16 inch rims are the best, having rubber bands for tyres is not that good for comfort.
I had 19" RR Sport rims on my D2 when I bought it, got rid of those pretty quickly and went for 8" rims with 255/65R16 tyres, initially I had Pirelli Scorpions but their wear rate was awful. Now on Nexens which are a world better on wear and not a lot different on grip in normal driving.
Have been good in snow and ploughed fields as well

True, but for all other characteristics, I like the Toyo Open Country ATs on my D2 (255/55 R18)
Got a new set for about £120 each, not the cheapest...
I've just had a couple of the Toyos fitted to the front of my Td5 and am very pleased with them - nice deep tread, very quiet on the road. I have these: Toyo Open Country W/T tyre: Toyo car tyres on sale at Pneus Online from Pneus online.
They replace Nexens which I have been happy with but am not keen on the directional tread.
Obviously I have no view on how long the Toyos will last.

If those W/Ts with a less chunky tread than the A/Ts wear anything like the A/Ts, then you should be quite pleased with how long they last. I've had my D2 just over 12 months now and I'm still on the A/Ts it came with despite enjoying several green laning outings and covering about 12k miles (still have tread higher than the wear indicators!)

I had the Nexen Roadian on my Disco when I spun out on a corner at low speed in the rain, the tyres weren't particulary worn, but the road my of been greasy as it was the first rain after a long sunny spell.
Any how, Ive now got a set of Hancook Dynapro ATms and I really rate them, they've been great off road and I'm equally impressed with them on road.

I'd consider anything less than about 35,000 miles to be too fast wearing!

Sorry, didn't clarify - the tyres weren't new when I bought the D2. Don't know how many miles they'd already done.
What I should have said is that I haven't worn out what tread is there yet
In my own head I was thinking that a 2.25 ton brick of a 4x4 would wear any tyre out quickly, so I'm pleasantly surprised.

Had Michelins for 140,000 miles. Some have gone 50,000+!!! The "cross" is a great tyre (don't get confused with the "tour")
