Hi All, I've taken the disco TD5 to a "recommended landrover garage" to have a new clutch fitted to include the release bearing etc as well as a service. It previously has a tendency to slip for a day or so then not slip for a week or two...weird.
After getting it back from the garage and driving for a couple of days it started to "screech" quite loud when depressing the clutch pedal. I took the car back to the garage and typical it didn't make a sound as we drove around during a test drive. To be honest i was fobbed off with a statemennt "it will be a brass bush wearing in"
It now is constantly making the noise and it sounds catastrophic! anyone got any ideas before i take it back again? Have i been duped? Any help would be appreciated........

tiz likely to be either clutch release bearing or spigot bush.

My answer is "is this normal?" if the answer is "no" then take it back. It is possible that the spigot bush wasnt lubricated prior to fitting.

Just looking at the invoice:
parts used for the clutch, FTC4630 CLUTCH COVER PLATE, FTC4631 CLUTCH PLATE, FTC5200 RELEASE BEARING, 8566 BUSH FLYWHEEL

Johnlad, Is "8566 bush flywheel" the spigot bush your refering to?
Thanks for all the help......

I had mine done recently at a main dealer. The land rover part number for the spigot bush is LFB500050 (i.e. land rover genuine factory part). I think the reference to 8566 BUSH FLYWHEEL is a Bearmach part number for the same thing.

Anyway they seem to have changed the spigot bush and the release bearing (FTC5200 is the LR genuine part number) so it must be down to them. Take it back and complain. Good luck.
