have had my td5 on the computer due to runnin on four cyl,
fault is open circuit on No5.
anyone any ideas as what it could be ??
which is No5 pot ? g/b or rad end of engine??
When you are talking about cylinder numbers, number 1 is always nearest the waterpump so number 5 is at the back of the engine nearest the wipers. Have you checked the old problem of the ECU plug and engine oil ?
SORTED!!!
fitted a new injector loom and the old girls 100% again, not an hours job start to finish... any problems missing, don't hesitate, CHANGE THE LOOM!!
- Was your misfire when engine cold, when warm only, or always?
- Did you have oil visible at the ECU end (red plug going onto the ECU by the battery)?
misfire was only occational in the begining and would clear if ignition switched on and off.
after a couple of weeks it became constant and i could not cure it with the ignition..
i did clean the ECU plug as there was a trace of oil there but this made no diference..
i feel it would be more beneficial to clean the plug at the front of the engine where the injector loom joins the engine loom (no one has mentioned this to me )
my misfire occured with the engine hot or cold, totaly random in the begining.
thanks for your help and lets hope this may help others in the future!!
Interesting - Mine was 100% guaranteed to occur 10-13mins into a journey, when at a certain temp, which is why it was the injector. If it had been like how yours described, I definately would have just tried the loom first.
Well, both are replaced now so that should cover that one! Belt and Braces.
