Hey guys 04 defender starting to fall apart!
Need some help. Td5 started to develop misfire on start up (regardless if engine hot or cold) and also will misfire if sitting at lights at idle too long with the accompanying smoke from tailpipe. After the misfire goes back to normal for another minute or two. No problems under acceleration or when car moving at all for that matter..
I have checked ecu under seat no obvious engine oil but possible coated in a very thin greasy layer of something... Wiring looks clean. Injector loom changed last year.
What should I check when I service it next weekend.
Thinking tappet off check harness at injectors, harness connector to main loom. Possible check the fuel and air purge valves on fuel filter housing, check engine timing positions at crank and camshaft..
Any other possibilities? Do these sx match injector seat problems or bad fuel pump? Fuel pressure regulator seems dry from outside.
Should I blast the ecu with brake clean anyway?
Thanks in advance I will try get hands on a scan tool that is actually compatible with the ecu in meantime.....
