I have a 03reg Discovery Td5. I am having problems with the power. The engine will rev up to 4000 with no problems. But when I go up hills it will only do 20 mph. It will reach 70 mph on a long straight but will take a long time. It will down shift ok and the engine will rev up but the acceleration will not be there.
I have checked the air inlet and all pipes associated with the air system all ok. the turbo spins with the engine so i assume its ok. Have not checked the fuel filter yet as i am gettting a new one tomorrow. However the filters were changed 6 months ago. Have filled up with a full tank of diesel from tesco's 4 days ago. could it be dodgy diesel. bearing in mind the engins runs fine on tick over and revs ok stationary. The engine has only done 48K miles. Have contacted land rover who want to test drive it. Has anyone any suggestions before I pay land rover hundreads to test the car.
