Hi guys, how's it going? I don't like the instrument cluster in my TD5, have any of you put a set from another car in there, maybe the Disco 2 ones (same engine)? I've seen the puma conversions but from what I can tell, the lcd screen doesn't work, am I right in thinking that? Cheers for any advice!

If you really want you can fit a complete "Puma" dash to a TD5 Defender including working LED readout.

l've seen it done so l know it's possible

Much easier solution....sell the TD5 and buy a Puma.

I'm planning disco 2 instruments in my td5 converted ancient 110. Most of it is straight forward. The warning lights are led and most work in the same way as your usual warning lamps. The indicator arrows and the trailer indicator leds are the exceptions. If you are up for a bit of modification then they can be made to work cutting a few tracks on the circuit board, adding a couple of resistors and wires. I've everything working I need I think and its not burst in to flames yet. Cant be sure of the speedo as its not moved yet. The only let down is there is no Fog light warning in the cluster. :)

Shouldn't be a bad fit. The plan is cut off the curved screen bit of the disco instruments and replace with a bit of polycarbonate so its flat then fit the to the 110 binnacle

IMO that's not so straight forward at all as you think as the D2 instrument pack has a processor which is "paired" with the D2's BCU through a serial data link, if it's missing nothing works and the odometer is blinking, a defender doesnt have a BCU also the speedometer needs te D2's SLABS ECU for the VSS(vehicle speed signal) and if the engine ECU is mapped for defender and not for D2 the fuel and coolant gauges will work the other way around... more complicated than it appears unless you know your stuff with electronics and not just how to add some resistors
