My 1999 TD5 Indicators work when the ignition is on but not when I start the vehicle. Have checked all fuses, pulled and checked the fuse box, replaced the hazard switch . Changed the indicator stalk . Is it in the ignition system? Thanks.

have you checked the relays and header for water ingress

Thanks Mystery there has been some moisture ingress so I am getting a new fuse box. All relays etc seem fine and work when ignition is on just not when engine is running. Is it possible to open the fuse box to check internally.?

Are you sure it isn't a problem coming from the ignition switch?
Altho I agree it is a bit weird that in that case the engine keeps running. But then I don't know the wiring diags off by heart!

Check all the earths, and there are a lot of them, they can cause all kind of wierd problems. I had headlamps on - engine cuts out. Slightly loose earth by the battery.

Thanks everyone. I will put new fuse box in today. If still no good I will work on ignition switch. All earths seem ok. This is the last problem left in the restoration so fingers crossed. As we all know water ingress causes issues and small leak in new windscreen didn't help but sorted that. This project has taught me patience and perseverance. My other Disco,D1, at 360K has never missed a beat so you can be lucky.

as the screen leaked check headers for water and corrosion the head un plugs to check them but care is required when re-inserting

New fuse box in ,no change, so now think it might be ignition issue ,headers seem fine and dry, and trailer plug ok. Will check all earths again but running out of ideas. Got a flashing crossed B on the dash and odometer flashing.

Thanks sierrafery the nanocom is a bit difficult as I live remotely on an island nowhere near a dealer. That's why I have learned the hard way with Land Rovers to do my own fixes. Might have to get a BCU from the UK. Its a shame because everything else works fine and unlike other threads I have read connected to this issue, rear windows, immobiliser etc all work. Thanks again for your help everyone.

Thanks sierrafery, This is what I have done so far-
1. Replaced ind. stalk and battery
2. Checked wiring to lights, earths, fuses, relays.
3.Replaced Hazard switch
4. Replaced fuse box.
5. Checked BCU connectors
6. Checked ECU connectors
7.Checked ignition switch.
All work well incl.indicators and hazards when ignition on . When I start the engine indicators work normally for 30 seconds then go intermittent.
The last thing I did was to check all connectors in LH pax fascia ,clean and reconnect.
I have assumed that this all results from water ingress which I have since sorted.
Thanks again. This is the last item in a long restoration and otherwise the vehicle rune beautifully (only 200,000Ks)

You can't have too many earths on a Landy ...
