I have a 2001 TD5. It always have sound like a wizzzz in the fuel pump (I suposse it has to see with high sulphur diesel in my country), and know it have 116.000 kms; a few days ago, I was doing off road when I get out of diesel. Since that day, the car have troubles starting in the morning (around 5°C) when it has less than a quarter of fuel in the tank. When it's warmed up, the problem disappears. Besides, I notice some delay in throttle response, it seems like throttle stays in low range stage. When less than a quarter is in the tank, it doesn't matter if it's hot, it shut's down sometimes, and is hard to startup, having to bleed every time. Also, there is a lot of white smoke when I floor down the throttle. Until know, I had:
Bleed completly fuel system
Get down tank, cleaning and doing maintenance to the pump
Verify fuel filter and lines, everything ok
I have read that there are some injectors seals that can be damaged. Can you please show me these? I also found that there are external pump solutions. Is there any information on this?. Somebody have done this in their cars? thanks a lot for your help.
I have to do anything I can before attempt to change the pump. We don't have it here in Colombia, if I want to import it, I have to wait around 6 weeks and the pump cost will be around EUR 1200.
