Hi

Long story short I got a load of diesel in my block and I cranked it. It only turned on the starter for a second before locking up. I guess my question is could I have damaged the engine with just the starter. Since then I have had it running on easy start for about 10 seconds( I have a fuel issue) and it was fine. But did the same today and there was a knock and some oil came out the exhaust.

I’m assuming it’s toast and the engine needed changing really anyway but would be nice if i could get it last until summer.

Any help much appreciated

I rebuild the TD5 if it's something you want to get done in the future - staglandrover.

For the oil in exhaust, are you sure it's not just water coming out after collecting some soot, making it look like oil?

No it definitely was oil so I had about 22l of fluid in the sump lol obviously I got a lot of diesel in there and that must have been pushing it out the turbo seals or something into the exhaust. After changing the oil to the correct amounts. And changing the ecu which was faulty and not allowing the injectors to fire. It seems to be running ok. It’s definitely not the most healthy engine ever nanocom indicates I’m loosing some power on cylinder number 2. but it will do for now I’ve got another engine lined up to go in when this one blows up.
