So, last night I went out in my 1999 Discovery TD5 and parked up. When I returned to the car and started up the engine died again almost instantly. I tried to re-start but it seemed like a case of fuel starvation, even though I had about three quarters of a tank of fuel. I did a purge procedure as detailed in RAVE and the car started and has run without problem since.
It did this once before, about 6 months ago but that time I had the AA recover it to an independent specialist who did a purge and it ran faultlessly until last night's episode.
Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be signs of the fuel pump not wanting to play any more? Any thoughts welcome.
