Abit of a follow on from my last thread;

-Currently have a water pump, fan belt+tensioner, cam cover gaskit, thermostat and new rad hoses ready to go on to solve afew problems.

Since then I've found a new yet familiar leak!:rolleyes:

JUST HOW LONG SHOULD A BRAND NEW FPR LAST????

The fuel pressure reg seems to have sprung this leak again since having a new fuel pump and fuel filter locator part fitted. Im guessing better fuel pressure has caused this? Yet the FPR is only 18MONTHS OLD!!:mad:

It is a genuine LR part aswell and they certainly knew how to charge for it + fitting. Needless to say im a little ****ed at this as surley once a new part is fitted it should now last a good few yrs if not the rest of the vehicle life? They checked my order file and noted it was 6 months out of warrenty too-bonus:rolleyes:...

Was thinking of getting some gaskit sealant but apparently thats frowned upon as if some goes into the fueling system it can wreck the injectors- my answer to this was don't put so much on.....am i right!? Or does it need a new unit again.....already found afew on ebay on standby tempted with 2nd hand as new is bloody expensive in a short space of time...

mine's still ok after 5 years and around 60K miles.... but i've fitted it myself...maybe the stealers have a procedure to make them last not much more than the warranty as to sell another ;)

Wouldn't suprise me. It was at an independant specialist too:rolleyes:

I doubt i'd have the patience to even attempt to remove and fit one myself having seen how and where it's located #worst design ever!!
 
I've had to change mine once . My d2 is a 2001 with 120k on the clock did it 3years ago . Not a hard job just a bit tight on space. Had to trim a spanner to get the job done

DO NOT use any sealant - at all. So how much were you charged for the fpr and labour ?
 
eightinavee, think it was just under £200 it was a while ago though-late reply i know been away abit as it's not broken since haha...

Just been mooching about as front discs and pads are due a change.

Also since the big service before winter it's been behaving its self so whilst it's working im tempted to get rid and cut any future losses....
 
I did mine last year and the easiest way to get to the bottom bolt is with long extension bar through gap in wheel arch liner and use a lamp to put light on the area.it's only a small gap in the liner but it made the job alot easier.
