Im in the middle of servicing my 90 td5 (06) Do I need to fill the fuel filter with diesel prior to fitting? Haynes manual makes no mention of this.

cheers

thanks, sound advice as always.................but how the feck do u get the oil filter off!! cant get it from underneath, there virtually no room to get it from the top!!
everything else is done apart from that....Haynes says renew every 36k, it was done around 7k ago and Im tempted just to leave so I can get the new oil in. (done the centrefuge filter easy enough).....help!!!

Had a chain wrench but it didnt fit, managed to get a strap wrench......job done. Thats my first bit of home mechanics in a lot of years....chuffed.

thanks for the advice

Ref fuel filter yes fill with deisel then once you turn the key let it purge and will start as per normal.
oil filter just get your hands in or just your right hand and as long as it has not been overtightned just work it or bodge a screwdriver through it and twist when you put it back on dont overtighten it.
If you get it loose by hand, before you twist it all the way off wrap a sainsburys plastic bag around it or m&s if your posh saves you tipping oil from the filter down the engine.
