Looking for some help for the guys on the forum. I have had no luck with my 51 plate TD5 Es. In the last 6 months I have replaced Turbo, turbo hoses, Radiator, Suspension pump to name a few. The other night driving home the poer went and the oil pressure light came on, just as it did when I blew the turbo. There was no smoke or oil anywhere, but whe nI checked the dip stick there was plenty of oil. The independant garage I go too fear the worse and are looking to replace the engine. But before I say yes to a second mortgage can anyway pass on some advise on what to check/look for to help diagnosis. BTW the new turbo has also packed in:mad: so no luck.

there is a known fault witht the TD5 with the oil pump bolt vibrating loose. You need to drop the sump and locktite the bolt in for the fix...

however, it could be your's has failed... a search along these lines may help you

I read one one of the posts on this topic, that Land Rover were assuming responsibilityif it was proven to be the oil pump sproket bolt and replacing the engines for free, regardless of age or service history. This was deemed a cheaper option for them than doing a full recall.

I'm not sure if it's true but would be worth investigating.

Keep us posted on how this unfolds.

Cheers

Thnaks guys will pursue both. Not sure if the Turbo being goosed for the second time actual helps with diagnosis. It surley would only fail if oil was not getting to it.

How feasible is it that oil would not move around whole engine?

If the oil pump did fail would there be other damage to the engine? Apart from Turbo:(

will give garage a call first thing Monday.
