Hi All, I'm new to this forum, currently living in the South-west of France and need help in identifying my Land Rover.

I am trying to get a COC for my Discovery series 2 TD5 from Land Rover in Paris, they require the vin number and engine number. On checking the vin all is correct but when I have checked the engine number it differs from that on the V5 form. The guy who sold me the car told me that it had a new engine after 40K (and its only got 88K now), so I was just checking on this forum to work out if this is a correct number but it seems that its not. The number starts with 22P.... yes 22P after reading all the threads on this site it seems this is not a correct number format, can anyone help with this.

Thanks Andy

If an engine was swopped with a Brand new factory unit it could start with 22P as they never had numbers stamped in them they used the prefix 22P ...I have fitted lots of new TD5 engines in brand new Discoverys, and think they had a 22P prefix....

Just an update on the engine number, check with the dealership and they have informed me they exchanged the engine under warranty and gave it a 22P number, case solved.
