I have just had mine disco td5 manual mapped by dynachip on wednesday morning.
I wanted to run it a few days before i talked about it.
Well the service i recieved from mike was first class turned up on time checked the health of my landy including to see if the was oil in injector loom which there wasnt:) and the dreaded air flow meter and mine was all spot on so he cracked on and read my ecu and then swapped it for the later one's that can be flashed.
I must say i really wish i had done this along time ago the car is just perfect now when iam solo it just pulls and pulls and and i am sure you could hit the ton mark quite easy now on a private road:D
In the afternoon i went and got my caravan out of storage and well didnt really notice it on the back.
It will quite happily tow at 40mph in 5 gear pulling 1800kg behind it and hills are now very easily dispatched iam now a gear higher than i would normally be in for said hills:)
So for anyone thinking of getting theres done just do it you wont regret it but just make sure its by someone who knows what there are doing!

Hi Jagdude, Mike came to me straight after he'd completed yours, arriving spot on time. Really nice guy and very thorough as you say.
Agree with you 100%, this is how they should have been out of the box. can't understand what Landrover were playing around at. Certainly finding (when I'm in economy mode!) I can snatch upchanges much earlier and downchanges later but give it some welly and it goes like a scalded cat.
Certainly looking forward to getting my van behind and seeing how she goes.

As you say, No Regrets, best value money can but:p

Hi Roy,
Thats right he did say he was going down to sailsbury after me.
God he does some miles that bloke i spoke to him day before and he was in newcastle!!
Anyway glad you are enjoying it as much as me i am off to spain/portugal with the caravan soon so will give everyone an up date then.
I really fancy a exhaust now but mike said they can be a bit droney when towing so may hold off but love the sound with them on:) and i only tow maybe 2-3 times a year so might just put up with that so i can have that lovely sound for the other 300 odd days:D

I actually de-EGRd de-catted and de-centre silencered mine a while back. Hard to say if it did make that much difference performance-wise and yes it does drone a bit when you're towing but it does soumd good pedal-to-the-metal:D

hi guys, i am thinking of using dynachip to re map my disco but i am wondering will it help or reduce my fuel consumption. i tow a heavy caravan and a little more life would be nice especially up hills. cheers.

When you speak to Mike at Dynachip tell him what you want and he will create a map to suit your needs.

In terms of towing more low-down torque will come in handy I guess - that's what I wanted and got from Mike's remap.

i had my td5 and my fiat scudo mapped by mike, the td5 has just done a two week stint in north wales so i checked the fuel accuratly over the whole trip, so getting from norfolk to wales and back, out around north wales and shropshire every day, some light offroading and the mileage worked out at 33mpg over the trip, four tank fulls near as damn it, as a foot note i asked mike for better throttle response more lowend torque and better economy and that is exactly what i got.

I just had my 1999 90TD5 breathed on by Mike at Dynachip. Originally he said it would cost £250 as it was an older vehicle and he need to install a new chip. When he arrived he said someone had upgraded it so he just plugged in his laptop, ran the diagnostics and then uploaded a new program. He told me I needed a new mass air sensor as the diagnostics showed it wasn't working but other than that the job was done in 25 minutes and cost me £225.

Result? Well I drive a 5.0 Jag XK every day so this was not going to blow my socks off with the performance but bloody hell it has made a difference!! My 100,000 mile 90 now pulls strongly and cleanly and is a hoot to drive, so much so that my wife, from hating my previous 300tdi 90 actually likes this one and will actually drive it.

Fuel consumption? Don't know, I only use it 2 or 3 times a week and mainly for sub 10 mile journeys but it doesn't seem to be much difference but that could be because I now burn boy racers off at the lights! Well actually it is only the surprise factor that lets me win as despite my sheer joy at Mike's work it still is a 2 ton beast with the aerodynamics of a garden shed....

Hi
I used Dynachip to remap my 04 Pursuit TD5.What a difference!!I was out in Consett buying some wheels from a guy who used his TD5 to take out emergency services in the bad snow.He let me drive his car and I was blown away!!
He had his work done by Dynachip.
I phoned Mike Jones and he came over to Grimsby from Warrington on a Sunday morning and the job was done in an hour.
My neighbour was that impressed he booked his BMW 525 to be remapped.
I had the cat removed and the Exhaust Gas Analyser removed as well.

Torque and acceleration is much better and a slight improvement in consumption.

Seriously I would not have my ECU remapped without it been done on a rolling road, they pre-check everything and can see live data while thrashing the car to measure its performance pre-mapping. Then they apply a change run the car make sure its happy and then tweak to get the optimal performance/economy depending on your preference.

not saying these mobile lads are bad at all, but I'm much happier knowing the map is built for the car not a custom pre made image, not all cars run the same.

The map that mike uses he made himself especially for td5's ,it is not a generic map like the auto logic ones.Nobody knows td5's like mike **** the man builds them to race!!

Hi all,
just my success story. I run a 2001 TD5 but with the later tunable ECU. My local landy Independant specialist in Salisbury did the Auto tune upgrade on mine. I tow a large caravan with mine and it completely transformed it. It will now (still) change up at 55mph (auto box) but will then let the revs drop to 1600 or so before forcing a change down. Much more economical, and even at illegal speeds 70+ (private roads of course) the Disco still pulls like a train.

Itchy.
