2000 Td5 =, 200k mls The relay chattering is one of two that are labelled with engine sybol, have replaced fuel filter, no.3 injector, injector wiring harness, and new air flow meter, , auto electrician's magic box said to! So, after aquick £150 later, it started then stopped and wont start again and relay still buzzing. So cleaned all connections to ecu and air flow meter, re-earthed ecu casing, removed and cleaned crank sensor. Help!!!!
 
yes, there is a 'back voltage to the relay, have been told, 5v, which is ecu voltage, so hoping it is not a new ecu job
 
the one that is buzzing and the lid of the box shows an engine sybol for it, there are two, this one is rear end of relay fuse box, had two magic boxes look at it one listed no3 injector fault, maf fault so replaced injector, maf and injector loom stil buzzing and started once then failed to restart

Let's try again.

@sierrafery has asked exactly which relay you're having the trouble with. It's best if you identify it by the number shown on it in the drawing:-

Unless we know exactly which relay, making even a half decent diagnosis is almost impossible.
It might also help if you say exactly what "magic boxes" were used.
 
no 9 ,will double check in the morning thanks, one was a Hawkeye, the other one was Snap on, that showed injector fault etc

So even if it's numbered on the lid took 4 posts to find this out :confused: ... i want to help but i can't in these conditions, especially that the information how and where that 5V was found is missing.... If you have RAVE i can tell you how to fix that temporarly unless you explain well how that 5V was found

I'm not gonna bother m8 ... my unintended ''sarcasm'' was the result of your cryptic informations when i was up to help you from the beginning, and i could have told you how to fix this, not the case anymore... i'll give you a last free advice: dont behave like that with your dentist too cos you might end up without teeth
 
Well perhaps , I was twenty miles away from the vehicle, I then thought to get a pic of box lid off of google images, which I did, so the snide remark was not necessary, and then suggesting I may loose my teeth! Well Mr Fery you are welcome to try, I think this forum is not for me, which bit of 'there are two relays with a engine symbol on them, the one at the rear of the box is the one' didn't you quite understand?
 
I dont want to argue on that, re-read the whole post and maybe you understand my frustration, if you want help you should help with clear informations as well cos i'm working with the diagrams and i have to know what to look for... if you want to DIY and you have RAVE i'm still up to help and let this misunderstanding behind us

I can see that you're a very new member here at LZ, one post about insurance and the rest regarding your current troubles around the relay R9 and possible engine ECU problems.

As has already been said, our very senior member sierrafery is a very helpful bloke, especially when it comes to the electronics on the D2 Td5. Please remember that English is not his first language, so his written replies might not always be what could be regarded as "free flowing" but he's usually correct in his diagnosis. Stick around and you'll soon get to know who to ask about what subject, and nobody charges for their time and help.

Many of the circuits on the D2 are quite simple, battery, fuse, switch, load then earth but there are quite a few which are extremely complicated and take quite a bit of effort to sort out consequently as much information about a fault is often required. In some cases somebody might say, "Oh, yes. that happened to me and this is what I did to fix it" but more often than not we'll work from the electrical circuit diagrams and "first principles".

I gave you a drawing of the engine compartment fuse board which holds most of the relays, but to work out what you had said I would have had to go out in the street and open up my Disco to get some idea of exactly which relay you were talking about.

Right, and so to your problem. The relay R9 is called the "Main relay" and it's triggered from the engine ECU and the switched circuit feeds directly back to the ECU. That being the case, at this point even I, an ex-electronics engineer will defer to @sierrafery at this point since he has very much more experience with that unit than me.

Once again, you misunderstand Sierrafery.... It's a great forum with a huge amount of knowledgeable people, but if you don't feel like you could fit in, then that's your choice.

Delete your membership? You can't, once you're in, that's it, you're in. There's no way out. :D:)
