id like to remap my ecu but i want to buy the equipment myself i understand the ecu requires a different internal chip are there any links on the procedure

Pre 2002 needs the chip replacing, later ones can be remapped through the obd port.

You really would be better off spending your money on a remap from a reputable tuning company

I’m in the motor the last thing I want to do is put money in somebody else’s pocket when it involves a motor

No idea then mate I don't know of any info regarding changing the chip. Where do you even get the new chip from?

So just load your map with the software and solder it in place I assume?
I assume the OP is in the motor trade, so presumably he doesn't have access to an ESD safe workstation or suitably sized ESD safe tools.
If it was that easy, why do so many members enlist the assistance of people like Mike?

Unless you're going to get a set up with a view to doing your own vehicle and then making money doing clients I really can't see the point in doing it as what sounds like a feasability exercise, with no offence meant
