Why is it weird? You can convert most diesel to duel fuel it's just a lot more expensive than converting a petrol. LPG is 52p a litre here, diesel is £1.27. A big saving if you're doing a lot of miles.
Nup, so long as you have a knock (Spontaneous pre-ignition) sensor for your ECU then you need make no changes to run different fuels, just like running high octane. If you were to use a high octane petrol in a spark ignition engine that usually runs on 95 RON, the knock sensor will change the ignition timing, however if you don't have a sensor, it won't and you will see no improvement from the fuel! So chavs who say they got 140 mph from their 1.1 saxo running AVGAS are loiying bastids
Well it seems that you can only recoup the costs if you are a high miler. Pumping around the town makes it expensive as nothing is saved. Probably better to chuck out ya doesel and lob in a 4Ltr convertad to gas. Ita amazing that here in the middle east i can fill up my Toyota 4.2 petrol for the equqivalent of a fiver?? There's no justice in the world..
